What is the Balkans Shiatsu Summit?
The Balkans Shiatsu Summit is an annual gathering dedicated to promoting and supporting the development of Shiatsu throughout Eastern Europe. Created by the team of Bosnia Shiatsu School & Ryoho Shiatsu with the desire to strengthen the visibility and reach of Shiatsu in the Balkan region, the summit brings together a growing community of practitioners, students, and teachers who believe in the power of touch as a path to healing, connection, and transformation.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to offer a space where Shiatsu can grow roots and flourish in regions where it is still emerging. The summit is not just an event; it is a movement to help awaken interest in Shiatsu, to build bridges between local communities and the broader European scene, and to create opportunities for learning, exchange, and inspiration. We believe that Shiatsu can be a tool for well-being and social cohesion, especially in countries where the therapeutic arts are still developing.
Who is organising?
Each year, the summit is hosted by a different country within the Balkan region and by a different team. This nomadic structure allows us to meet the people where they are, to respond to local needs, and to include voices that are often underrepresented in the international Shiatsu community. A EUROPEAN Collaborative Spirit
The summit is a place where East and West meet—not only geographically, but in practice and spirit. Teachers from Western Europe are invited to share their expertise, not as outsiders, but as partners working alongside local professionals. Workshops, lectures, demonstrations, and treatments are co-created in a spirit of equality and respect. Our aim is not to impose models, but to encourage local expressions of Shiatsu to emerge and evolve in dialogue with international perspectives.
